The Town has existing water and sewer utilities within the right-of-way, including water and sewer lines, fire hydrants, valves, and manholes, that conflict with NCDOT's proposed road widening. These utilities must be relocated to prevent customer utility service disruptions within the construction corridor. This project also extends a line down NC 55 under the railroad trestle to create a new loop in the distribution system.
